About the china

Made in Staffordshire, England, by Royal Winton Grimwades, this delightful ‘Queen Anne’ set is believed to date from the late 1930s–1940s. Its distinctive design features pink, blue and yellow flowers with green foliage against a fine checked background, creating the appearance of needlepoint or tapestry. Gilded edges and softly scalloped plates complete the look.

Queen Anne is a recognised Royal Winton chintz pattern, first introduced around 1936. These pieces are glazed earthenware.

There is age-related crazing to the glaze, particularly visible on the undersides, and some rubbing to the gilding, consistent with the set’s age and previous use.
